it is in the discs, when in fact the thread is only around the outside of the discs. Consequently there
will be no top tension and thread will nest on the bottom of the quilt.
Always make sure that the thread is firmly pulled up into the tension discs. The machine does not
have a presser bar lever to release the top tension like on a home sewing machine. Therefore, users
may not be accustomed to flossing the thread into the tension discs and must be instructed to do
so.
NOTE
: If the tension discs are worn or warped they will need to be replaced. The part number for
the top tension assembly part is QM59104. The part number for a disc (two are required)
is QM13181.
To calibrate the top-tension assembly
Calibration is required whenever the top-tension assembly is removed or replaced.
1. Touch the
Tools
button (1) in the toolbar. Then
touch the
Calibrate Tension
button (2) along
the bottom of the screen.
2. Touch the
Tension
button (3) in the center of
the screen to begin calibration.
3.
The motor will loosen one turn to read its sensors. It then tightens fully until it stops, and then
loosens four or five turns. Lastly the system will set the tension to 112, the middle tension setting.
NOTE
: The machine beeps when it starts calibration, beeps again in the middle of calibration, and
then one final long beep at the end of calibration.
4. The loosest tension setting is 1 and the tightest is 224. There are 32 counts per revolution and seven
revolutions for a total of 224 counts. The midpoint is 112.
NOTE
: For comparison to other HQ machines, a full rotation of the tension knob on the Infinity
results in tighter tension than one revolution of the tension knob on other HQ machines.
