7. Axial Play
The HQ Infinity primarily uses ball bearings that are pressed onto the main shaft and hook shafts. The ball
bearings are the main provision to prevent axial play on these shafts; they are pressed onto the shafts into
the correct positions with gauges and special presses during machine assembly.
Hook Shaft
Rear Hook Shaft Bearings
The hook shaft has two ball bearings in mounts that are pressed onto the shaft at the rear of the
machine. One is pressed onto the shaft in front of the two pulleys and the other is pressed onto the shaft
behind the two pulleys.
NOTE
: The front two bearing retainers each have a sintered iron bearing which slides freely on the
hook shaft. They do not play a part in maintaining axial play in the machine.
The rear bearings are held into their bearing mounts with an internal snap ring that holds the bearing
against a lip on the far side of the bearing mount. These are then pressed onto the rear of the hook shaft.
Each bearing mount is mounted with two large screws with washers to the bottom frame extrusion.
