To check the presser bar height
•
When the needle bar in its lowest position, the bottom of the hopping foot ring should be no higher
than 0.5mm above the needle plate. It is permissible for the hopping foot ring to lightly touch the
needle plate.
NOTE
: If the foot has too much clearance skipped stitches will result.
To adjust presser bar height
1.
Take the needle bar to its lowest position (
bottom dead center
).
2.
Place the 0.5mm plastic gauge under the foot.
NOTE
: The plastic gauge is recommended
because the metal gauge may scratch the
highly polished needle plate if slid out from
under the foot when the foot has pressure
on it.
3.
Insert a 2.5mm hex tool into the access hole in the right front mahine cover and loosen the clamp
screw.
4. Rotate the hopping foot ring to be centered over the needle plate hole, pull down on tool blade to
insure pressure is placed on felt piece inside the machine, and then firmly tighten the presser bar
clamp screw.
5.
Check that the hopping foot ring is no more than 0.5mm above the plate and centered on the needle
plate hole.
NOTE
: This may need to be done later as the felt ring compresses from use.
14. Needle Position
Front-to-Back Adjustment
Â
IMPORTANT
: Because the hook frame needs to be loosened to adjust the front to back needle
position in the needle plate, front-to-back adjustment should be made before the left-to-right
needle position.
To check the front-to-back needle position
•
The needle should be relatively centered front to back in the needle plate.
