set screw.
4. Slide the stop finger out of the basket until the basket can be rotated and retighten the stop finger
screw to hold the stop finger away from the basket.
NOTE
: In some cases you may need to remove the stop finger before you can rotate the basket.
Take note of the bend on the stop finger so you can replace it correctly. (The stop finger is bent up
on the end towards the basket.)
5.
Rotate the hook 180° until the large cutout is up
towards the needle. You will need to hold the
basket in this position now the stop finger has
been moved away from the basket.
You are now ready to adjust loop lift and needle
distance timing.
Â
IMPORTANT
: If needle bar height has been changed, or is not set close to correct or correctly, it
will not be possible to set needle distance because the hook will not pass through the scarf to set
the needle distance. For more information about needle bar height, see
Needle Bar Height timing
.
Loop lift and hook-to-needle distance
Some hooks are tighter than others on the hook shaft. You may be tempted to pry on the hook mechanism.
If you pry on the hook it may become damaged, irreparable, or unusable. The hook is one of the most
expensive parts in the machine.
To set loop lift and hook-to-needle distance
1.
Install a new straight 100/16 MR (crank needle).
2.
Use a 2mm hex tool to loosen the two screws on the back of the hook.
