3.
Replace the clamp and set with a 2.6mm feeler gauge, making sure to turn the hand wheel correctly
in the direction of motion after the feeler gauge is removed. See
To check loop lift and hook-to-needle
distance timing
above before resetting if you have questions about setting the feeler gauge and
clamp.
4. With the clamp fixed to the needle bar, the 2.6mm feeler gauge removed, the hand wheel turned
in direction of motion (counterclockwise), and the clamp up against the bottom of the head frame
needle bar bushing edge, set the hook to needle distance. First push the hook on or off the hook shaft
as needed until the hook lightly touches or brushes the needle inside the needle scarf. Then roll the
hook point to the far side of the needle to set the loop lift. This is most easily done if one provides
some resistance against the adjustment.
5.
While holding onto the hook to provide some resistance against the adjustment, tighten one of the
hook screws with the 2mm ball end hex tool.
6.
Ensure the needle distance and loop lift settings are still correct.
7. Remove the clamp and turn the hand wheel if necessary to get to the second screw. Tighten the
second screw with the 2mm ball end hex tool, being careful to not push on the tool to roll the hook
and change the setting.
