The limitations mentioned above generally do not apply, if the PBX provides a
point-to-point connection on the subscriber line (this is often referred to as a “tie
line”).
Note however, that the gateway does not support any proprietary subscriber pro-
tocols for operating telephones on PBXs.
5.2.5 Use on a PBX tie line
Connecting the gateway to a PBX tie line is usually the most sensible way of linking
two or more PBXs.
In this case, the gateway can be operated as
clock master
(NT) or
clock slave
(TE) (see section 5.2 “Considerations on the configuration of the ISDN interfaces”
from page 48). If the PBX has its own clock, the gateway can be operated in TE
mode without any difficulty. This is possible at both ends of the connection.
