Deploying and Verifying the Fault
Locating Tools on Linux
After the OS is installed, configure the fault locating tools in the following order:
Configure the memory dump tools:
It takes effect after the OS restarts and remains valid permanently.
Configure the serial port redirection:
It takes effect after the OS restarts and remains valid permanently.
It takes effect immediately and remains valid permanently. It is used together with
kdump.
Configure the the magic SysRq key:
It takes effect immediately and remains valid permanently.
It takes effect immediately and reverts after a restart. Change the log levels only
after completing all other configurations and restarting the OS. Also, restore the
log levels after fault location.
It takes effect immediately and reverts after a restart. Disable the screen saver only
after completing other configurations.
The above fault locating methods have no effect on system performance, stability,
or security, except that changing the log levels will change the drive space used for
storing logs.
