6.1.3.1 IP Settings
Devices in IP networks use three
details to identify connections to
other subnetworks. These are details
to identify the own device, the own
network segment, and the gateway.
All IP addresses consist of a sequence
of 4 numbers in a range of values
from
0
to
255
. For private networks
without direct Internet connection,
numbering areas such as
192.168.*.*
are reserved. The IP
address describes the network
segment as well as the number of the
individual device within this segment.
