Heat Interface Units
(HIU) deliver heat generated from a centralised heating plant to multiple homes,
apartments or flats. Heat from the main boiler plant is transferred to the home by two plate heat exchangers. One plate heat
exchanger (PHE) provides the hot water supply (DHWS) and the other plate heat exchanger supplies the central heating circuit
(CH). This can be by either radiators or underfloor heating, the installer has the option to commission for either.
HIUs do not generate their own heat so to deliver DHW and CH most suitable for the requirement of the home or apartment it
is the responsibility of the installer and or system designer that the heat network delivers heat at a sufficient flow rate and
temperature to do so.
