Server Management version 5.5 adds two new commands to the command line interface function:
•
Power:
Displays the current power state of the managed server.
•
Shutdown:
Shuts down or resets the managed system, depending on which option is selected. By default, the
software attempts a graceful shutdown. Performing a graceful OS shutdown requires a proprietary OS agent be
present. If this agent is not present or unable to respond after 7 seconds, an error message displays for the user and
the command terminates. Graceful shutdown commands do not reset the system or turn power off if the OS
shutdown does not complete. This model varies from previous implementations of graceful shutdown requests. The
shutdown command supports the following options:
−
[-f] Forces a power off without performing a graceful shutdown. A graceful shutdown requires Intel® Server
Management to be installed on the server.
−
[-r] Causes the software to attempt a graceful shutdown and then execute the IPMI reset command.
−
[-r -f] Forces a reset without performing a graceful shutdown.
