The Intel
®
Server Board SE7500WV2 includes two Socket-604 processor sockets and supports one or two Intel Xeon
TM
processors with 512K of L2 cache operating at speeds of 1.8 GHz and faster.
The architecture of the Intel Server Board SE7500WV2 processor subsystem provides:
•
400-MHz front side bus:
The SE7500WV2 provides a high-bandwidth front side bus that operates at 400 MHz and
provides a data transfer rate of up to 3.2 GB/s between the processor(s) and memory.
•
Integrated voltage regulator:
A single, integrated VRM9.1 compliant voltage regulator provides support for up to
two processors. The voltage regulator provides a maximum of 130 amps to support current processors as well as
future supported processors.
•
Fault-resilient booting:
A component of the management subsystem that monitors the boot process, and upon
failure of the bootstrap processor, marks the offending processor as offline and reboots the server using the second
processor.
•
Reset configuration logic:
Processor characteristics such as operating frequency, stepping and cache size are
detected by the BIOS at system power-on; the system is subsequently configured to operate at the appropriate speed.
The defined core frequency and operating frequency cannot be altered.
•
Processor module detection:
Logic on the server board detects the presence and identity of installed processors or
termination. Additional termination is integrated into the SE7500WV2 for operation when only one processor is
installed.
Guidelines for installing processors in the Intel Server Board SE7500WV2:
•
Install only Intel processors that have been validated for use with the Intel Server Board SE7500WV2 as listed on
the Intel Support Web site, http://support.intel.com.
•
When installing a single processor, the processor must be installed in the primary processor socket; the secondary
processor socket is automatically terminated by integrated termination provided on the SE7500WV2.
•
When installing two processors, both processors must be /– 1 stepping of each other with identical core
voltages, cache sizes, and bus and core speeds.
