The rear serial/EMP (emergency management port) RJ-45 port is designed to support modem serial port concentrators,
which typically use standard 8-pin RJ-45 connectors. This allows access to the server management features of the server
board by simply using standard CAT-5 cable to connect from the rear port to the serial port concentrator.
The 8-pins of the rear RJ-45 connector can be configured using the J5A2 jumper block located at the rear of the board,
behind the onboard connector, to provide two different modes of serial communication:

DTR/DSR
(Data terminal ready/data set ready): This is the standard mode of communication for Cisco serial
concentrators and consoles, and is the default serial configuration for the Intel
®
Server Board SE7500WV2. For
serial devices that require a DSR signal, the J5A2 jumper block must be configured with the jumper in position 3
and 4.

DTR/DCD
(Data terminal ready/data carrier detect): This is the standard mode of communication used with
modems and a number of other serial devices. For serial devices that require a DCD signal, the J5A2 jumper block
must be configured with the jumper in position 1 and 2.
