The System Configuration Wizard is a DOS-based application with a graphical user interface, and is provided on the
System Resource CD-ROM. The wizard is intended to assist a system administrator in setting up the server platform.
The wizard provides a local interface; it cannot be used remotely.
The wizard leads system administrators through a series of setup screens to configure a new server system. When all the
necessary information has been gathered from the system administrator, the wizard confirms the configuration, and then
performs the necessary steps to set up the system.
These steps can include the following configuration functions:
•
Store configuration values into non-volatile memory
•
Create a service partition and install service partition software
•
Set the system time and date in the BIOS
•
Load field replaceable unit (FRU) information
•
Load sensor data records (SDR)
•
Set the system asset tag
•
Configure the BMC for remote management including:
−
IP address
−
Emergency management port (EMP) settings
−
Platform event paging (PEP) settings
−
LAN/alert settings
•
Manually configure individual components of the server using task-specific utility applications
•
Create startup or installation disks for hardware device drivers and server configuration utility applications
