Configuring the Battery Backup Module

Initially, the battery pack requires a minimum of four “fast charge” hours to fully charge.  You must
configure (reset to zero) the number of charge cycles on the RAID controller to ensure proper counting
of charge cycles.  The total number of fast charges should not exceed 1,100.  After 1,100 charge cycles,
the battery pack’s life is assumed to be over.

You must use MEGAMGR utility on the bootable diskette to configure the battery backup module.
You cannot configure the battery backup module with the MegaRAID BIOS Configuration Utility.

To configure the battery backup module:

1.  Insert the diskette containing the MEGAMGR utility into the system’s floppy disk drive.

2.  Restart the system.

3.  At the DOS prompt, key in megamgr.

4.  From the Management Menu, select Objects.

5.  From the Objects menu, select Battery Backup.  The Battery Backup dialog displays.

6.  Select No of Cycles.  The Reset Charge Cycles dialog displays.  Choose YES to reset the number

of cycles to 0.

NOTE

The No. of Cycles option must be reset to zero when you first install or replace a battery backup
module.

For a description of the status items appearing in the Battery Backup dialog, see the outlined dialog at
the bottom of the screen.
