Connecting to a Token Ring Network
To connect the DCS 300 to a token ring network, you must attach it to the wired
network and then you must configure the card. The token ring card supports both
TCP/IP and IEEE 802.2 protocols.
Note:
The token ring card is not available on the 0300D.
Installing the DCS 300
You may have a token ring card in your DCS 300 that runs at 4, 16, or 100 Mbps. If you
use a token ring switch, this card can provide full-duplex communications. The
DCS 300 can only contain one token ring card and it must be in the first PCI slot, which
is the PCI slot that is farthest right when you are looking at the rear panel of the
DCS 300.
Equipment needed
•
A token ring connection where you can connect the DCS 300.
•
A cable to connect the DCS 300 to the connection. Your token ring card comes
with an RJ-45 to STP cable.
To install the DCS 300
1. Locate the slot that contains the token ring card. The card connectors look like the
figure below.

2. Insert one end of the cable into the token ring port on the card and the other end
into the token ring connection.
Configuring the Token Ring Card for TCP/IP
After you install the DCS 300, you need to turn it on and configure the token ring
network adapter card. To configure the card for TCP/IP, you can either use a Dynamic
Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to provide the TCP/IP information or you
can enter the configuration manually. If you do not enter an IP address and you do not
check the Use DHCP check box, TCP/IP communications are disabled.
