Intermec EasyCoder 201 II – Technical Manual
THERMAL PAPER, cont'd.
In the “Service” part of the Setup Mode, a number of heat settings/
printing energy options are presented in a stack of menus (“Print
defs: Paper Type”), depending on the resolution/density of the
printhead. The “Paper Type” settings provide different levels of
printing energy (heat) to match the thermal sensitiviy (energy
requirement) of the direct thermal paper in use. The use of papers
with higher thermal sensitivity allow higher print speed and save the
printhead.
Standard “Paper Type” settings:
Paper Type
Thermal Paper
Energy Level Paper Sensitivity
UBI DT 120
Synthermal
Low
High
UBI DT 110
Premium, Economy
High
Standard
If you are not sure how to set the “Paper Type”, start with the lowest
energy (UBI DT 120) and work your way up to UBI DT 110 until
you achieve the best print quality. The setup parameter “Contrast”
can be used to fine-adjust the printout darkness within each “Paper
Type” level.
The paper settings above are optimized for bar code printing. This
may cause an impression of a somewhat weak printout for pure text
and image printing. Increasing the energy to the printhead will
make the printout blacker at the expense of the quality of bar codes.
When extra black printout is desired, use one of the following setup
options (direct thermal printing only):
UBI DT 110+
Provides 15% more energy to printhead than UBI DT 110.
UBI DT 110++
Provides 30% more energy to printhead than UBI DT 110.
Due to the increased amount of energy to the printhead, they shall
be used with extreme care. Further, a more frequent cleaning of the
printhead is recommended with these setup options. Consult your
local Intermec reseller or sales representative for more information.
