Section 3, Installing the Exhaust System

3-5
2
Install the thru-hull and fasten the fresh-air inlet saddle
pipe to the thru-hull.
3
Securely seal the exhaust piping to the fitting on top of the
heater using an approved exhaust clamp.
4
Connect the exhaust piping in series with the muffler,
using heavy-duty exhaust clamps. If you use vibration
isolation mounts they must be high temperature.
5
Connect the flexible air-intake tubing (2” I.D.) to the air-
intake fitting on top of the heater. Use a #32 gear clamp
to attach the tubing to this fitting.
6
Connect the fresh air inlet tubing to the saddle pipe on the
thru-hull. Make sure the run of this tubing is as short as
possible to provide good air flow. Use a #32 gear clamp to
attach the tubing to this fitting.
7
Make sure the air intake hose and the exhaust are not
touching.
6
Secure both ends of the air-intake tubing with properly
sized hose clamps to prevent air leaks.
7
Make sure the air-intake tubing and exhaust piping have
no leaks and are not touching each other.
An optional air intake silencer can be installed in
the fresh air inlet line to dampen the sound of
the inlet air flow. This silencer will fit directly
over the air inlet fitting on the heater or it can
be installed in the 2’ air inlet tube. See Fig. 3-1
