Plumbing the System
7.1 Before You Begin
For efficient and safe operation of the Oasis
®
Chinook Heating
System, follow all of the recommendations in this section for
properly installing the plumbing system. Any deviations from these
must be approved in advance by ITR.
The Oasis
®
Chinook Heating System must use a non-toxic,
propylene glycol based coolant with additives generally recognized
as safe ”GRAS” by the FDA. Use of non-propylene glycol based
coolant can be harmful if contamination of potable water occurs due
to a leak in the heat exchanger, which could be caused if the fresh
water in the system is allowed to freeze.
For an efficient Oasis
®
Chinook Heating System operation, you
must:

Minimize heat loss from the Oasis
®
Chinook and hoses.

Balance the heat output for each of the zones. Balancing can be
done by adjusting the number and size of the cabin fans installed
in each space heating zone. Figure 7-2: Plumbing Oasis
