Twinscope 8-pin NMEA ADAPTOR CABLE
NMEA 0183 Interface
The
Twinscope
will accept navigation data from a
separate Loran C, Decca, and GPS receiver in the
NMEA 0183 data format. This interface has been
tested and is verified to work with the
Interphase
Pilot GPS
but should work with most other GPS
receivers with the proper NMEA output. It features a
unique, fully dedicated microprocessor for the NMEA
0183 data port which provides maximum compatibility
among Loran C, Decca and GPS receivers.
If your equipment conforms to the following
NMEA
0183
i
nterface protocols, the
Twinscope
is probably
compatible- BOD, GLL, IMA, WDR, BPI, BWR,
BWC, BER, BEC, GXP, GDP, GOP, GLP, GGA,
RMA, RMB, RMC. Consult your GPS operation
manuals or contact the manufacturer for further
information on interfacing.
The
Twinscope
needs to be interfaced via the eight-
pin jack on the rear panel of the display unit. The pin
connections are shown at right.
Interphase
also offers a NMEA 8-Pin Adapter cable
for the Twinscope as shown at right.
For reference, the internal circuity for the
Twinscope’
s
NMEA input is shown below. This technical
information may be helpful if you have difficulty with
the NMEA connections.
