4.13 Adjusting Wheelbase Width
Perform this procedure on one side of the wheelchair at a
time for ease of adjustment.
The wheelbase width can be increase/decreased by 3/4 per
side = 1 and 1/2 inch (3.81cm) total range of adjustment.
1.
Remove the rear wheels. Refer to 5.7 Removing/Installing Rear
Wheels, page 65.
2.
Loosen the axle nut

and rotate axle bushing

to
increase/decrease the wheelbase width.
3.
Securely tighten axle nut
A
. Torque nut
A
to 30-35 ft.-lbs
(9.14–10.67m-kg).
4.
Count the number of threads

showing on the axle bushing

WARNING!

ALWAYS leave 3/4 inch (1.9cm) of axle bushing

engaged into camber tube

otherwise damage
and/or injury may occur.

should be equal on both sides of the
wheelchair. Otherwise, wheelchair performance
may be affected.
5.
Repeat steps 2-3 for the opposite axle bushing

.
6.
Install the rear wheels. Refer to 5.7 Removing/Installing Rear
Wheels, page 65.
