5.7 Removing/Installing Rear Wheels
WARNING!

After any adjustments, repair or service and before
use, make sure all attaching hardware is tightened
securely - otherwise injury or damage may occur.
CAUTION!
–
Changing the size of the rear wheels can affect the
performance of the wheelchair. Contact Invacare at
the telephone numbers on the back of this manual
before changing rear wheel size.
Quad-Release Axle not shown. Locking pins on the
Quad-Release Axle are the same as Quick-Release Axle.
1.
Perform one of the following:
•
Quick-Release - Push in the tip of the quick-release axle

and pull axle
A
and wheel
B
away from the wheelchair
C
.
•
Quad-Release - Lift up on the handle of the quad-release
axle and pull axle and wheel
B
away from the wheelchair
C
.
2.
Repeat STEP 1 for the opposite rear wheel
B
.
3.
Reinstall the rear wheels
B
onto the wheelchair
C
by reversing
STEPS 1-2.
WARNING!
–
Pull on the rear wheel
B
to make sure the
detent pin
D
and locking pins
E
of the quick/
quad-release axle are fully released before
operating wheelchair.
–
Keep locking pins
E
clean.

If there is too much movement of the rear wheel assembly in an
“in and out” motion, refer to 4.7 Adjusting Quick-Release Axles,
page 43 or 4.8 Adjusting Quad-Release Handles, page 43.
