Folding and unfolding your wheelchair
To open the chair;
1 Take a position at one side of the wheelchair. (with rear wheels on)
2 Take hold of the handgrip nearest to you and lean the chair toward you, so that the front
castor and rear wheel on the opposite side leave the ground by 150mm (6’’)
3 Whilst retaining a grip on the handgrip, place your hand on the seat rail nearest to you and
push down, the chair will partially open.
4 When the chair is partly open, rest the chair on all wheels, place both hands on the seat rails
(one hand on each rail) and press down until the seat rails lock into the saddle guides, the
upholstery should be taut.
5 Fit the leg rests (see page 7) and lower the footplates, the chair is now ready for use.
To fold the chair;
1 Lift the footplates to the upright position.
2 Using both index fingers place under the seat upholstery at the front and back in the centre,
lift gently and the chair will fold.
3 Once folded your chair is now ready for transporting or storage.
4 To make the chair lighter you can remove the leg rests and rear wheels, see pages 7 and 10.
Cross Bracing
The cross bracing is secured by a centre bolt. Under no circumstances is this bolt to be
tightened. It is designed to slide backwards and forwards 5 to 10mm, this free play allowing the four
wheels to be in contact with the ground.
The anti tippers
The anti tippers are designed to prevent the chair from tipping backwards. It is highly
recommended that they remain in position at all times.
Each chair is supplied with two anti tippers. To fit, follow the instructions
below.
1 Take the anti tippers and move to the rear of the chair.
2 Insert the anti tipper into the frame below the rear axle, whilst depressing
the rear spring button, keeping the button in line with the hole on the frame.
3 Once the anti tipper has been inserted in place release the button, move the
anti tipper until the button protrudes through the frame.
4 The anti tipper should be twisted to make sure it is locked into place.
