Disposing of dead or damaged batteries correctly
Dead or damaged batteries can be given back to your
provider or directly to Invacare.
7.2.11 General Information on Battery Installation

Improper installation of the battery can result in
injury or damage.
– Batteries can weigh up to 52 lbs (23.6 kg).
ALWAYS use a battery lifting strap when lifting
the battery. It is the most reliable method of
carrying a battery and preventing serious injury.

Improper lifting technique may cause injury or
damage.
– Use proper lifting techniques, assistance and
gear such as straps when available when lifting
heavy loads.

Exposure to battery acid may result in injury.
– The use of rubber gloves is recommended
when working with batteries.
– DO NOT allow the liquid in the battery to
come in contact with skin, clothes or other
possessions. It is a form of acid and harmful or
damaging burns may result. Should the liquid
touch your skin, wash the area IMMEDIATELY
and thoroughly with cool water. In serious
cases or if eye contact is made, seek medical
attention IMMEDIATELY.
– DO NOT install/reinstall a battery with a cracked
or otherwise damaged case.
