Adequate mobility and upper body strength is
required to perform this activity independently.
1.
Transfer to and from the wheelchair in the presence
of a qualified healthcare professional to determine
individual safety limits.
2.
Turn power button OFF BEFORE entering or exiting the
wheelchair.

to perform transfer.

ALWAYS engage both motor locks and wheel hubs (if
equipped) to prevent the wheels from moving before
transferring into or from the wheelchair.

Align casters parallel to the drive wheels to improve
stability during transfer.
6.
Invacare strongly recommends ordering wheel locks as
an additional safeguard if not present.
7.
Flip up footplates or swing footrests outward.
8.
Shift body weight into seat with transfer
During independent transfer, little or no seat
platform will be beneath you. Use a transfer
board if at all possible.
