The Battery Gauge
The Battery Gauge is to let you know how much charge is left in your Batteries.
The best way to use the gauge, is to learn how it behaves as you drive the
wheelchair. Like the fuel gauge in a motor car, it is not totally accurate, but it will
help to avoid running out of “charge”.
The gauge works in the following way:-
When you switch the system “ON”, the gauge shows an estimate of the remaining
Battery charge. Figs.27a, 27b and 27c
The Battery gauge will however, gives a more accurate reading, approximately one
minute after you start driving the wheelchair.
DO NOT
operate the control system if the Batteries are nearly discharged,
as failure to comply with this warning may leave the User stranded in an
unsafe position i.e. in the middle of a road or busy shopping walkway.
Neither RMS Ltd, or PG Drives Technology, will accept any liability for loss or
damage of any kind arising from failure to comply with this
WARNING
.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
The Battery Gauge also has built-in status indication with the following signals:-
Battery Gauge is Steady
—
This indicates that all is well.
Battery Gauge Flashes Slowly
–
The control system is functioning correctly, but
you should charge the batteries as soon as possible.
Battery Gauge Steps Up
–
The wheelchair Batteries are being charged. You will
not be able to drive the wheelchair, until the Charger is disconnected and you
have switched the Controller “OFF” and then back “ON” again.
Battery Gauge Flashes Rapidly (even with the Joystick released) - The control
system safety circuits have operated and the control system has been prevented
from allowing the wheelchair from moving. This indicates a system trip, i.e. the
VR2 has detected a problem somewhere in the wheelchair’s electrical system.
Please follow this procedure:-
1.
Switch “OFF” the control system.
2.
Make sure that all external cable connections on the wheelchair are correctly
connected and secure.
3.
Check the Battery condition.

Red and Amber “ON”
