emu3/emu3ACO Operation Guide 25
Version 2.1
Overcurrent Protection Operation
Overcurrent Protection Operation
Damage can be caused to the emu3 hardware when too much current is drawn from the unit without blowing the
fuse. An electronic fuse has been implemented to protect the unit
•
Warning level is nominally 16 Amps
•
Trip level is nominally 17 Amps
Warning state
When the current drawn rises above the warning level but below the trip level, the unit enters the warning state as
indicated by the yellow background shown in the Web Interface below. The front panel LEDs will alternately flash in
4 groups of 3 to warn the user when the unit is in this state. The warning state overrides any other operation of the
output LEDs.
Trip Countdown state
When the current drawn rises above the trip level, the unit enters the trip countdown (error) state as indicated by the
red background shown in the Web Interface below. The front panel LEDs will flash in 2 groups of 6 to indicate that it
has entered this state.
While the unit is in the countdown state, should the current fall below the trip level but remain above the warning
level for 5 consecutive seconds, the unit will enter the warning state and the trip countdown is stopped. Should it
rise above the trip level again, the unit will re-enter the countdown state and the countdown will start again from 0.
