Operating Instructions

Stay alert, watch what you are doing, and use common sense when operating the pump. Do not
use the pump while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating the pump may result in serious personal injury.

Use ANSI-approved safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields, or when needed, a face
shield. Also use non-skid safety shoes, gloves, and hearing protection when appropriate.

Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times.

This pump is not submersible!

Do not stand the pump in water while it is plugged in, and do not

get the motor wet as it could cause electrocution. Do not plug the pump in to an electric socket
with wet hands.

This pump is designed for use with clean water only. It cannot be used with sea water

dirty or

gritty water, or flammable, corrosive, explosive or dangerous liquids. Dirty water or sand will
damage pump. If water is dirty you must use a filter on the inlet.

Do not use in the presence of flammable or explosive vapors. Using this pump with or near
flammable liquids or vapors can cause an explosion or fire, resulting in property damage, serious
personal injury and/or death.

Do not leave the pump running unattended because the supply water may get fully drained and
the pump motor can burn out.NEVER allow the pump to run dry.

Always make sure the pump is unplugged before the supply water level gets below the
suction line inlet.

At water levels below the inlet, the pump may begin to pump air and be

EXTREMELY LOUD, which will cause the pump to overheat and burn out. Running the pump
without sufficient water will damage the pump and void the pump’s warranty.

To prevent possible injuries to people, avoid inserting hands into the mouth of the pump if it is
connected to an electrical outlet.

Always use a suction strainer (not included) to prevent debris or small fish from getting into and
damaging the pump.

The pump housing may be HOT while operating and can cause serious skin burns. To avoid
burns, unplug the pump and allow time for it to cool after periods of extended use.

Check the pump for primebefore use.

If the pump is new, or has not been used for a long period of time, the pump shaft must be turned
several times by hand before the pump is turned on.

If the flow of water to the pump inlet is restricted, such as when used with a control value: Do not
run pump continuously; run it at intervals (such as: Run the pump for 1 hourthen turn it off for 10
minutes).

The pump must be installed in horizontal position only (outlet facing upward).

Drain the pump (and hose/piping) if the ambient temperature goes below freezing.

Note:

It may be advisable to install a foot value (not included) if drawing water from a source that is

lower than the pump. (A foot valve is a one-way valve that will allow the water to flow in one direction
only.) The foot value should be installed toward the end of the inlet hose. This should prevent the
need to prime the pump at every use by keeping the water in the inlet hose from draining out after the
pump is turned off.
