UNPACKING
When unpacking, check to make sure that all
components are included. Refer to the drawings on this
manual. If any parts are missing or broken, please call
an IVT assistance center.
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION! Prior to any mounting,
adjusting, maintenance procedures
the machine must be switched off.
CAUTION! Protective gloves must be
worn when handling the saw chain (6).
Mounting the saw chain (6) and the guide bar (7)
[F2]
1. Place the machine on a level surface.
2. Loosen the anchor nut (5) (which is under the
protective cap) using the spanner (16) and remove the
casing (4).
3. Place the saw chain (6) in the channel all around
the guide bar (7). Pay attention to the correct direction
of movement. Ensure that the direction of the saw chain
(6) is the same as that of rotation direction symbol (22).
4. Place the guide bar (7) in such a way that the
positioning pin (17) fall into the guide bar slot (19) and
the chain tension pin (20) falls into the hole provided for
it on the guide bar (7); at the same time, drive the saw
chain (6) around the chain wheel (23)
[F3]
.
5. Mount the casing (4) and securely tighten the
anchor nut (5) with the spanner (16).
6. Check the tension of the saw chain (6), adjust it if
necessary.
PRE-OPERATION CHECKS
Checking the tension of the saw chain (6)
The tension of the saw chain (6) should be checked
before starting to operate, after the first cuts and
regularly throughout the work (every 10 minutes). The
working lifespan of a saw chain (6) depends on its
adequate lubrication and correct tension.
1. Place the machine on a level surface.
2. Release the anchor nut (5) (which is under the
protective cap).
3. Turn chain tension bolt (18) clockwise using a
screwdriver until the correct chain tension is achieved.
After this, guide bar (7) is moved using chain tension
pin (20).
[F4]
4. Saw chain (6) is correctly tensioned if it can be lifted
up in the middle by approximately 3-4 mm
[F5]
. If saw
chain (6) is overtensioned, turn chain tension bolt (18)
anticlockwise.
5. Securely tighten the anchor nut (5) using a
spanner.
6. Ensure the correct placement of the teeth of the
chain in the groove of guide bar (7).
Lubrication of saw chain (6)
CAUTION! The machine is supplied
with an empty reservoir for oil. Before
use, it should be filled with oil. Using
the machine without oil or with an
oil level below the recommended
minimum, will damage the machine.
The working lifespan of the saw chain (6) and cutting
productivity depend on optimum lubrication. For this
reason, the machine automatically oils the saw chain
(6) with adhesive oil, through the oil jet (21) during use.
Filling the oil reservoir
1. Place the machine on a level surface, with the oil
tank plug (14) at the top.
2. Clean the area around the oil tank plug (14) with a
cloth and remove the oil tank plug (14).
3. Fill the oil reservoir with biodegradable adhesive oil
for chain saws. Be careful to not allow any dirt to fall into
the oil reservoir.
4. Replace the oil tank plug (14) in its position.
To avoid any damage to the machine, use only the
recommended biologically degradable adhesive oil.
Under no circumstances should reclaimed or used
oil be used. The use of unauthorized oil forfeits the
right to present guarantee claims.
Checking the chain brake mechanism
The chain brake is a safety mechanism that activated
through the chain brake initiator (9), when kickback
occurs. By moving the chain brake initiator (9), the
saw chain (6) stops in a maximum of 0.3 seconds. An
operational test should be carried out from time to time:
∙
Turn the chain brake initiator (9) to “position 2”.
[F6]
∙
Try to turn on the machine temporarily: the machine
should not start.
∙
To release the chain brake, turn the chain brake
initiator (9) backwards towards your body in “position 1”.
