RESPONDER
M
ODE
The optional
RESPONDER
mode is dedicated to the triggering of an acoustic
transmission from the transponder by means of an electric pulse. This option is available
with the –R transponder models which are fitted with a subsea connector (8 pins model
BH8M).
The RT8x1 transponder has one responder interrogation channel. The Responder mode
can be set to one of the two transponder channels (IIF / CIF) by the acoustic remote
control unit (and sending “RESPONDER ON IIF” or “RESPONDER ON CIF” command) or
by serial link. The activation of one channel in Responder mode inhibits the Transponder
mode on the same channel.
The responder mode RT8x1 units must be set to ENABLE state to make active the
responder input.
The Responder mode on IIF (respectively CIF) is turned to DISABLE state by sending the
IIF-ENABLE Transponder mode acoustic command (respectively CIF-ENABLE
Transponder mode) or simply by sending the “IIF DISABLED, CIF DISABLED” command.
The opto-isolated input characteristics are as follows:
•
Pulse width: 10
±
1 ms
•
Logic level: 0 – 5 V nominal (4V < Ve <25 V))
•
Insulation voltage: 5300 V
•
Two wires connection (responder and common responder)
