Serial interface - RS232
The emVIEW-12T/D provides a serial interface to connect the touch-screen to a host computer. If the
USB is connected to the host the serial interface chip is deactivated. The pin assignment of the 9 pin
female SUB-D connector is shown in table 4.

The emVIEW-12T/D provides a ring indicator (RI) signal for waking up the host PC. To use this feature
the host must provide ‘Wake On Ring’ (also ‘PowerUp on Modem’) and this option must be activated in
the BIOS.
The length of serial cable must not exceed 10 m.
3.2.3
Universal serial bus - USB
To connect the touch-screen to a host computer the USB can be used, too. The connector is USB
Type B, so a standard USB Type A to Type B cable can be used to connect the touch-screen with the
host.
The length of USB cable must not exceed 5 m.
3.2.4
Analogue Video - VGA
There are two ways to apply video data. One of them is an analogue video signal over the VGA
connector (High density 15 pin female SUB-D). Analogue resolutions to SXGA (1280x1024) at 75 MHz
or UXGA (1600x1200) at 60 MHz are support.
A 10 m VGA cable is tested with the emVIEW-12T/D.
3.2.5
Digital video - DVI
As noticed earlier there is a second way to apply video data, the digital input DVI. The reliable DVI port
is operating up to 165 MHz (UXGA at 60 MHz), thus it can be connected to all compliant digital DVI
transmitters.
The length of the DVI-D cable must not exceed 10 m.
The best picture results are obtained by setting the native resolution. The native resolution
is 800 x 600 (SVGA).
