OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS
Refer to figure 9, page 25 for operator panel layout. Left
side of machine is defined when facing transparent
guard (item 13, figure I, page 11).
1 Notice location of both emergency--stop buttons.
Refer
to figure Q, page 18.
Both buttons must be in “up”
position for machine to function.
2 Turn Auto/OFF/Manual button on operator control
panel from OFF to Manual position.
3 Press POWER ON button on operator control panel to
start pump.
Button turns amber color when pump is
energized.
4 Move carriage assembly to either side by turning CAR-
RIAGE switch to either LEFT or RIGHT.
5 Check rotation of both vertical and horizontal saw
blades:
This procedure is only necessary on initial startup, or if
hoses have been removed.
5.1 Ensure carriage assembly is stationary and lo-
cated at either the far right side or left side guard.
5.2 Twist and hold down CARRIAGE switch in the
same direction (left or right) as the carriage as-
sembly.
5.3 Press and hold down left green colored START
button to run vertical saw.
Vertical saw only will
run when left START button and either CAR-
RIAGE switch are manually activated.
5.4 Press and hold down right green colored START
button to run horizontal saw.
Horizontal saw only
will run when right START button and either CAR-
RIAGE switch are manually activated.
Note: When machine is being used, saw dust is thrown
over a large work area. Ensure that saw dust doesn’t hit
other workers. The saw motor can rotate in either direc-
tion to minimize this spray.
6 Turn Automatic/OFF/Manual button from MAN to
AUTO.
When switch is rotated, pump will stop as
switch passes through OFF position.
Press
POWER
ON button to restart pump.

Each day,
before you begin operation, go through the
following check list:
7.1 Make sure that the dual anti-tie down start buttons
are working correctly. Depress each START but-
ton separately and the machine should not start.
Depress one START button, then pause one se-
cond and depress the other START button and the
machine should not start. Repeat this procedure
reversing the START buttons. Depress both
START buttons simultaneously (within one half
second of each other) and the machine should
start. With the machine running, release one
START button and the machine should stop. Con-
tinue holding the depressed START button and
then depress the other START button. The ma-
chine should not start. Repeat this procedure
holding the other START button.
If the tool
malfunctions, remove it from service and report
the problem to your supervisor immediately
.
7.2 Make sure that all guards are in good condition
and are installed on the machine.
8 Making the cut:
8.1 Place bone end of neck against bone locating studs
(item 34, figure E, page 8).
8.2 Simultaneously (within one half second of each
other) press both left and right green colored
START buttons to initiate automatic cycle. When
automatic cycle ends, saw blades will stop rotat-
ing, carriage will have reached either side of
frame and clamp assembly will lift.
8.3 Remove sawed neck from NBS--1 and place
another neck in proper position, depending if it is
a left or right neck half.
8.4 Simultaneously (within one half second) press
both left and right green colored START buttons
to start automatic cycle again. Carriage will travel
to other side of frame.
9 Turn Automatic/OFF/Manual button from AUTO to
OFF to turn--off machine.
POWER ON button light
will go off when pump stops running.
MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS DISCONNECT ALL HYDRAULIC AND
AIR HOSES AND SHUT THE POWER OFF IN ACCORDANCE
WITH OSHA’S LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES (29 CFR
1910.147) WHEN INSTALLING OR REMOVING A BLADE. AL-
WAYS DISCONNECT ALL HYDRAULIC AND AIR HOSES
AND SHUT THE POWER OFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH
OSHA’S LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES (29 CFR
1910.147) BEFORE PERFORMING ANY MAINTENANCE OR
REPAIRS.
