9.3 Place blocks approximately 0.69 inch thick be-
tween shaft (item 61, figure E, page 8) and car-
riage base (item 20, figure B, page 5) to maintain
proper elevation of carriage assembly during roll-
er removal.
9.4 Remove screws (item 24, figure B, page 5) secur-
ing fixed linear bearings (item 23, figure B, page
5).
9.5 Slide fixed linear bearings (item 23, figure B,
page 5) from shaft (item 61, figure E, page 8).
9.6 Remove screws (item 24, figure B, page 5) secur-
ing floating linear bearing and bushings (item 25,
figure B, page 5).
9.7 Slide floating linear bearing and bushings (item
25, figure B, page 5) from shaft (item 61, figure E,
page 8).
9.8 Inspect bearings for wear. Replace if necessary.
10 CARRIAGE LINEAR BEARING INSTALLATION
10.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in section
9.
See special notes below:
10.1.1 If replacing floating linear bearing (item 25,
figure B, page 5), discard old bushings. Use
new bushings accompanying replacement
floating bearing.
10.1.2 Use grease provided with replacement floating
linear bearing (item 25, figure B, page 5) to lu-
bricate bearing’s sliding surfaces.
11 ROLLER CHAIN DISASSEMBLY:
Refer to figure D, page 7 for all referenced items.
11.1 Loosen chain tensioner screw (item 23) to loosen
roller chain (item 27).
11.2 Remove roller chain (item 27) by prying off
spring clips located on on connecting links (item
19).
11.3 Remove roller chain from chain guide wheels
(item 32).
11.4 Pull chain through either right or left side sprocket
guards (item 10 or items 37 and 38).
11.5 Inspect roller chain sprockets (item 14) for wear.
Replace if necessary.
12 ROLLER CHAIN INSTALLATION:
Refer to figure D, page 7 for all referenced items.
12.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in section
11.
See special notes below:
12.1.1 Prior to installation, and if not already lubri-
cated, soak replacement roller chain (item 27)
in food grade oil.
Note: When removing sprocket hub and roller chain
sprocket , be careful not to lose square key (items 15).
12.2 Remove screws (item 2) securing motor flanged
housing (item 3) to gear reducer (item 9).
12.3 Remove motor flanged housing (item 3) and cou-
pling (item 8).
Note: When removing coupling, be careful not to lose
square key (items 1).
12.4 Remove screws (item 2), flat washers (item 17)
and nuts (item 16) securing gear reducer (item 9)
to frame and table (item 51, figure E, page 8). Re-
move gear reducer (item 9).
13 GEAR REDUCER INSTALLATION: MOTOR
END
Refer to figure D, page 7 for all referenced items.
13.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in section
13.
See special notes below:
Note: Do not attempt to add lubricant to gear reducer.
Gear reducer is filled with oil at factory, and sealed for
life. If servicing is required, return unit to
Jarvis
.
13.1.1 Align new roller chain sprocket (item 14) be-
fore tightening screws (item 12).
Screws
should only be ”finger tight” until roller chain
socket is aligned. Beware sprocket will move
approximately 0.06 inch when being tight-
ened.
13.1.2 After attaching roller chain (item 27), push
carriage assembly back and forth to check for
any roller chain binding.
13.1.3 Tighten screws (item 12) evenly when roller
chain is aligned, or roller chain sprocket (item
14) may wobble. Move carriage again to
check for any roller chain binding.
14 GEAR REDUCER DISASSEMBLY: MOTOR END
Refer to figure D, page 7 for all referenced items unless
otherwise noted.
14.1 Turn off power to NBS--1.
14.2 Loosen chain tensioner screw (item 23) to loosen
roller chain (item 27).
14.3 Remove roller chain (item 27) by prying off
spring clips located on on connecting links (item
19).
14.4 Remove screws (item 7) that secure carriage hy-
draulic motor (item 5) to motor flanged housing
(item 3). Separate carriage motor from motor
flanged housing.
