Section 8: Plumbing System

16.
Pressure fill the fresh water tank (refer to Step 9). Set the 2 valve water heater bypass
to
NORMAL
allowing water into the water heater. Refer to the
2-Valve Water Heater
Bypass
section.
17. Water valves at the water pump should be in the
NORMAL
position to allow water into
the RV lines. Disconnect any pressurized water source. Turn the water pump ON. You
want water to flow from the water tank into the water lines in the RV.
18. Verify the hot water heater is full of water by turning on the hot water faucets and when
a steady stream of water flows from the hot faucets, pump must be ON, then the water
heater is full of water.
19.
Open all faucets one by one (both hot and cold) and allow water to flow until the chlo
-
rine smell is gone. Include the outside shower and outside kitchen also.
20. Close the faucets and then turn the pump OFF.
Lingering Chlorine Taste:
If a chlorine taste lingers in the water, flush the water system
with a solution consisting of one-quart vinegar to five gallons of clean water. Re-flush as
necessary.
The vinegar solution may damage the water heater and water filter. Both
must be bypassed prior to adding the vinegar solution.
Follow the steps outlined in
Draining the Fresh Water System
with one exception, do not
drain the water heater. Set th
e water heater bypass
valves to
BYPASS
mode.
Do not
re-
move the water heater drain plug.
Full System Canister
water filter (if so equipped), remove the canister, take out the filter,
and reattach the empty canister.
After draining the system
1.
Water heater power should be OFF (both switches: electric and LP gas). Set the water
heater bypass valves to
BYPASS
mode.
2.
Siphon the vinegar solution into the fresh water tank. Place the clear tubing (located
inside the basement access cover at the pump) into a container with the vinegar solu-
tion. Tank drain valve must be closed to create a siphon.
3.
Set the black and white valves at the water pump to the
SANITIZE TANK
setting
(refer to the
6 In 1 Utility Center – 2 Valve System
section). Turn the water pump ON
and vinegar solution will be drawn into the fresh water tank.
4.
Finish filling the fresh water tank with of clean (potable) water. Turn the pump OFF.
Fill the fresh water tank using one of the methods in Step 9 previously. Refer to the
6
In 1 Utility Center – 2 Valve System
section.
5.
Set the BLACK and WHITE valves at the water pump to the
NORMAL
positions.
Turn the pump ON. Run water through all faucets (hot and cold, including outside
shower) until chlorine smell is gone.
6.
Close all faucets including outside shower. Turn pump OFF.
7.
Drain the system again, but do not drain the water heater. Water heater bypass valves
should be set to
BYPASS
mode. Do not remove water heater drain plug.
8.
Close low point drains and fresh water tank drain. Low point drains for hot and cold
water lines are located inside the basement access cover.
9.
Refill the fresh water tank with clean potable water. Use either the
pressure fill tank
method or the
siphon fill tank
method. Refer to the
6 In 1 Utility Center – 2 Valve
System
section.
10. Reset the black and white valves at the water pump to the
NORMAL
position. Turn
the pump ON. Open faucets and check that the chlorine taste is gone.
11. Turn water pump OFF. Drain the system one more time. See
Draining the Fresh Water
System.
