MAINTENANCE
AVOID
Should wheel bearings become
extremely hot, have the bear-
ings inspected by a qualified
service center.
NOTE: During break-in period
(first 500 miles) your hubs may
feel extra warm due to brake
shoes setting in with the brake
drum.
Do not touch hubs with
bare hand as they may be
too warm to touch.
Exposure to water or con-
densation will cause bear-
ings to rust and be dam-
aged.
Never let bearings run
dry.
Never overpack wheel
bearing, especially in the
middle of hub. It will trap
heat and possibly dis-
perse grease from seals
or dust cap.
Never overtighten wheel
bearings as they will over
heat.
Wheel Bearings
The wheel bearings in your
Jayco travel trailer are pre-
greased. It is recommended that
you repack bearings at 12
months, 12,000 miles or at the
end of each season’s camping to
prepare for winter storage.
Use only multipurpose No. 1 or
2 good quality wheel bearing
grease.
If bearing or cone (race) be-
come pitted, please replace any
damaged part.
