Before you fit the pump head, biologically activate the filter material of the filter with JBL FilterStart Cleansing Bacteria
(available at your specialist pet shop), as follows:
Drip 50 drops of JBL Filterstart per foam cartridge directly onto the cartridge.
Re-connect the module(s) and the pump head. Check that all connections have fastened correctly.
Note: The filter modules can be fitted in any order in models i80, i100 and i200. Care should be taken that the bottom plate
with valve must always be attached to the bottom module.
Putting the filter in position
Clean the places on the aquarium glass where the two large suction cups of the filter will be placed thoroughly. Remove
other foreign bodies e.g. small snails etc. from the rest of the aquarium glass where the filter will be placed. Now press the
filter with the two large suction cups onto the glass in the designated corner of the tank. Make sure that the discharge pipe is
approx. 2 cm below the water level. To remove the filter, simply press the two buttons (PUSH) on the front side of the pump
head simultaneously with your thumbs and pointers and remove the filter from the aquarium glass. Two small spacers on the
bottom plate of the filter maintain a small distance from the glass panes of the aquarium to prevent noise transmission by
resonance.
Note: In aqua-terrariums with low water levels, the filter can be simply be placed on one of the flat sides on the bottom and
secured laterally with a suction cup as described in the above.
Starting up the filter
Turn the swivel water outlet in the direction required and install the wide jet pipe, diffuser or spray bar as wished. Now plug
the filter to the mains power supply.
Tip: We advise against using the spray bar in aquariums containing plants that are supplied with additional carbon dioxide
(e.g. JBL ProFlora), as too much CO
2,
the vital plant nutrient, is expelled from the water. The best results are achieved using the
wide jet pipe with the opening just below the surface of the water to produce a moderate surface water flow.
