La cantidad de CO
2
requerida para mantener un valor del pH determinado depende de la du-
reza de carbonatos en el acuario. Cuanto más elevada sea la dureza de carbonatos, más CO
2
se requiere. Partiendo de los valores de la dureza de carbonatos y del pH se puede calcular la
concentración de CO
2
. La siguiente tabla le ahorra el cálculo y le muestra también los valores
de pH que usted puede mantener sin peligro para sus peces.

12.2
La concentración de CO
2
y el valor del pH adecuados
JBL recomienda una concentración de CO
2
en el agua del acuario de entre 15 y 35 mg/l. Este
margen está marcado en la tabla anterior con «CO
2
correcto». Se ha comprobado que el valor
idóneo oscila entre los 20 y 25 mg/l. Este valor es inofensivo para los peces y, a su vez, garan
-
tiza una vegetación exuberante. Para el aquascaping recomendamos mantener unos valores
de hasta 35 mg/l.

Mida la dureza de carbonatos del agua de su acuario con un test de dureza de carbonatos
JBL KH.

Busque en el margen «CO
2
correcto» el valor del pH adecuado dependiendo de la dureza
de carbonatos y de la concentración de CO
2
deseada.
•
Ajuste poco a poco el número de burbujas de CO
2
de manera que se alcance este valor
del pH.
Es imprescindible seleccionar solamente aquellos valores de pH que sean inofensivos para los
peces. Esta es la parte de la tabla marcada con «CO
2
correcto».
