Landing Gear Update!
NOTE - All current A-7 production batches should not require any type of modification. If so,
please contact us!
Due to a design change to the production landing gear, some A-7 kits may require a minor
modification to install the landing gear into the aircraft.
MAIN GEAR
To install the main gear into these aircraft, the 4 mounting holes in the main gear landing plate
must be slotted 1/32" inward toward the center of the plate. The retract should be centered on the
plywood plate. In most cases, slotting the holes will work, while in other cases, completely
creating new holes will be required. For easiest results , use a Dremel tool with a 3/32" cutter bit.
It is ok if the holes are oversized as you want to ensure that there is no binding in the retract
mechanism. Improper alignment can cause this.
NOSE GEAR
To install our JHI nose retract unit into the aircraft, some widening of the wood mount may be
required. This can be done with a dremel or a sanding tool. Additionally, fitting the nose strut into
our nose retract unit will require 1 of 2 things.
1. Grind away some the rear facing detail on the
back of the strut (interferes with the cylinder).
OR
2. Mount the strut so that that area clears the
cylinder and then shorten the extension length by
placing a piece of 1/32"-1/16" ply in the knuckle
support area.
