550, 700 & 850 DE LUXE

and minimise heat loss to the building.

8 Where offset in the flue is required,

do not bend more than 45 degrees.
Jetmaster fabricated bends are available.

8. Fitting the Jetmaster

Convector Box

(This work can be carried out by a person

who is not registered LPGAS Association
installer.)

1 Slide the convector box into the recess.

Ensure that no insulation or other
material can fall and obstruct the fume
outlets. Ensure that a seal is formed
behind the frame of the convector box
such that the only air which can reach
the flue must travel in through the
front of the convector box and up
through the fume outlets.

2 Check that the flue outlets on top of

the convector box will not be
obstructed. Where the convector box
is to be installed beneath a particularly
deep lintel supporting the chimney
breast and the flue outlets might be
partially obscured, steps must be taken
to chamfer the underside of the lintel
to 45 degrees to provide a smooth,
unrestricted path for gases.

3 Check that the convection inlet channel

at the base of the front of the
convector box is not restricted.

4 If a gather has not been fitted, for

instance when the convector box has
been installed in an existing fireplace
opening, mark and drill two securing
holes in the base of the convector box
and the hearth below, and secure the
convector box to prevent it from
moving forward.

7. Preparatory Building Work

(This can be carried out by a person who is
not a registered LPGAS Association installer.)

1 When building the Jetmaster Gas

Convector into an existing fireplace,
first remove all loose materials from
the recess and measure the opening
and recess to ensure that the Jetmaster
Gas Convector will fit.

2 The recess must be large enough to

provide a clearance of 15 to 20 mm
around the sides of the convector box
and be in accordance with the
dimensions given on page 2. Cut away
or build up to achieve the desired
dimensions.

3 Where the recess is to be newly built,

form the recess to give a clearance
around the sides and back of the
convector box of 15 to 20 mm to
accommodate the fibreglass insulation.

4 Where the sides or back of the recess

have to be built up, and the masonry
flue gather of the chimney is to be
used, build up to the height of the
convector box only and then top with
a sloping fillet or mortar.

5 If a metal flue gather with flue liners

is to be used, they are available from
Jetmaster or any authorised Jetmaster
dealer.

6 Check that the hearth, or new plinth

where this is constructed, is level.

7 Wrap the faces and sides of the fire

with insulating material. This insulation
is not essential but it is recommended,
particularly when fitting to and outside
wall, since it will maximise heat
retention in the convection chamber,
