Refit the door using the reverse process in door removal section. Check the door tension as detailed below.
The ceramic rope seal should be held in place with Jetmaster Seal Adhesive.
Servicing Door Seal between Door Frame and Glass Panel
The seal under the glass can be removed by first removing the glass panel.
To remove the glass panel first remove the 4 nuts and bolts (one at each corner) that bolt the glass to the frame.
Then gently lift off the glass panel. Once the glass panel is removed then the seal can be removed. If replacing
the glass then the seal should be replaced at the same time.
First remove the old seal and clean the surface to remove any of the old adhesive. Fit the new seal that has a
self-adhesive backing. Peel back the backing tape and attach to the door frame. Ensure that the seals touch
each other at the corners so as to give a continuous seal around the edge when the glass panel is refitted.
Refit the glass by aligning the holes in the glass with that in the frame (also the hole that allows the door catch
to protrude through).
Insert a new protective flanged bush in each of the 4 holes in the glass. It is important that these are fitted to
eliminate direct contact of the screw with the glass. Insert loosely the bolts/screws.
Refit the nuts hand tight. Finally tighten each nut a little at a time so as to pull the glass down evenly to avoid it
cracking.
Ensure that the hole in the glass around the door catch does not touch the latch at any point. There should be
a small gap all around the latch to the glass. This will allow the metal to expand when heated to avoid cracking
the glass.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE BOLTS AND NUTS OR THE GLASS WILL CRACK.
Refit the door using the reverse process in door removal section. Check the door tension as detailed below.
Glass Panel
To remove and replace the glass panel from the door follow the procedure in Servicing Door Seal between Door
Frame and Glass Panel.
Refitting the door using the reverse process in door removal section. Check the door tension as detailed
below.
Door Tension Adjustment
After carrying out any servicing on the door always adjust the door latch tension. The latch tension is adjusted
by adding or removing the shim washers behind the door latch.
This will adjust the tension of the door seal against the firebox body.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The visible front parts of the fire can be repainted with heat resistant black paint. These parts can be repainted
every 1 or 2 years as required but generally dusting with a soft brush should keep the fire looking good. The
interior of the firebox and the grate should not be painted.
To maintain the finish on Decorative Surrounds wipe with a soft damp cloth only.
Do not use
abrasive cleaners,
polish or solvents as these can damage the surface finish.
Glass Door
If over a period of time the glass door starts to soot then this maybe cleaned with a proprietary cleaner available
from your distributor.
ALL CLEANING MUST BE CARRIED OUT WITH THE APPLIANCE COLD
