Principle of Operation
The mask is for use with breathable diving quality gases such as pure oxygen, breathing quality
oil free air and heliox (helium and oxygen) gas in a diving chamber at depths of up to 350 m. The
choice of gas to be breathed will be dictated by diving tables out with the scope of this guide but,
normally, the following gases will apply.
Oxygen
0 - 20 msw
Breathing Quality Oil Free Air
0 - 50 msw
Heliox
0 - 350 msw
The mask is for use within a chamber only and must NOT be used underwater.
Pure oxygen and oxygen rich gases may be used to supply the mask and hence, to reduce the
risk of combustion and explosion, the mask must be kept clean and free of any hydrocarbon
greases, flammable cleaning solvents, metal filings or other combustible materials.
Pre Dive Checks
1.
Checks must be undertaken by personnel who have been trained and are qualified
to use such equipment.
2.
Inspect the mask for damage and rectify as necessary. Supply suitable gas to the
inlet Hose and verify correct operation.
3.
The intended user, where possible, should have the mask face fit verified prior to
use.
4.
Check communications, where fitted, are operating correctly.
Emergency Procedures
1.
Always plan for possible emergencies and practice regularly.
Cleaning
1.
After use, clean mask using a solution consisting of 1 part HLD4H to 50 parts clean
fresh warm water for 15 minutes.
2.
Rinse out the mask in fresh water and allow to dry.
Storage
The mask should be stored in a cool dry environment at a temperature of about 15 - 20°C and
out of direct sunlight.
