RWF ROTARY SCREW COMPRESSOR UNITS
OPERATION
S70-600 IOM (OCT04)
Page 17
After the adjustment s been, made wait until the oil and
discharge temperatures have had a chance to stabilize
before readjusting. The end result should be between 135°
and 140°F.
For high temperature oil – 160° to 170°F
After the unit has been started, wait for the oil temperature to
reach 122°F. This is the preprogrammed temperature to open
the liquid feed solenoid in the liquid injection supply line.
Open the adjusting valve only until the needle on the gauge
begins to move a very small amount.
Next, adjust the pressure regulating valve to approximately
30 psig by turning the adjustment ring inside the top of the
valve with a 5/16” Allen wrench . Turn the wrench clockwise
to raise the oil temperature, and counter-clockwise to lower
the oil temperature. After the adjustment has been made
wait until the oil and discharge temperatures have had a
chance to stabilize before readjusting. The end result should
be between 160° and 170°F.
Liquid Injection Oil Cooling - Ammonia
To tell if the unit you are starting has a low or high temperature
liquid injection valve, look at the power head of the Thermal
Expansion Valve.
If the unit is using Ammonia as a refrigerant and is for low
temperature the Sporlan number on the power head should
be Y764 or Y830. Set the oil temperature for135°F.
If the unit is using Ammonia as a refrigerant and is for high
temperature the Sporlan number on the power head should
be Y1199 or Y1201. Set the oil temperature for 160°F.
Liquid Injection Oil Cooling - Halocarbon
To tell if the unit you are starting has a low or high temperature
liquid injection valve, look at the power head of the Thermal
Expansion Valve.
If the unit is using Halocarbon as a refrigerant and is for low
temperature, the Sporlan number on the power head should
be L3. Set the oil temperature for 135°F.
If the unit is using Halocarbon as a refrigerant and is for high
temperature, the Sporlan number on the power head should
be Y1200 or Y1202. Set the oil temperature for 160°F.
When the unit has high temperature liquid injection oil cool-
ing, set the oil temperature alarm for 170°F.
Set the oil temperature cutout for 180°F.
When the unit has low temperature liquid injection oil cooling,
set the oil temperature alarm and cutout at the default values
set in the microprocessor.

LIQUID INJECTION
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
Use the following steps in setting up the EZ-Cool
™
LIOC us-
ing the Quantum Panel PID loop from analog output channel
one and the HMMR motorized valve.
•
Ensure that a driver chip is in chip slot U-7 on analog
board one.
•
Ensure that a D/A converter chip is in chip slot U-15 on
analog board one.
•
Ensure that a jumper is between pins 2&3 on J-26 and
pins 1&2 on J-39 of analog board one.
•
Ensure that the software version on the analog board
one e-prom is version 1.04 or higher. This chip is in slot
U-13 and has a label calling out the version. If the label
is missing press
[Menu]
>
[About]
, the version should
appear in the lower left corner of the screen.
•
Ensure that the HMMR valve is wired to the Quantum
control panel per drawing 649B0898.
•
Set the High Oil Temperature alarm and shutdown
setpoints to 165
°
and 170
°
F for ammonia or 170
°
and
175
°
F for R-22, R134A and R507 respectively.
•
Once this is done press
