8.5 Configuration Five
Multiple NCB-EL/FL routers can be used in a redundant setup to provide multiple paths to the
Echelon Gateway. A sample diagram is shown below.

The IP Central Site Member name must be set to NONE. The member name Ech GW1 is to be
bound into the Echelon Gateway first. When the router who has the member name Ech GW2 is
bound into the Echelon Gateway, it must be set to “Redundantly Pair with an existing Router.” Ech
GW2 will then be redundantly paired with the router Ech GW1. When Branch 1 is added to the
Echelon Gateway, it will be connected to the router Ech GW1. Then, Branch 2 will be redundantly
paired with Branch 1. This configuration will allow as many as two routers to become inoperable
and still provide a path for event annunciation. If Ech GW1 or Ech GW2 and Branch 1 and Branch
2 are still operable, events will still be received by the Echelon Gateway.
