GENERAL BOATING INFORMATION
This part of the owners manual will cover topics related to a typical day on the water.
First-time boat owners should take time to carefully read this section before launching your
new boat.
Experienced boat owners may also want to take a quick tour - most of the information will
be very familiar, but you may encounter something new. Also, if you notice anything missing
that would be especially helpful to a new owner, please contact Jones Brothers Marine.
We'd like to make this owners manual as helpful as possible.
4.1
Trailering
The adjustment and balance of your boat on the trailer determines how easily your boat
may be transported. The tongue weight on the hitch ball should be 5-10% of the total weight
of your boat, motor, and trailer. Tail-heavy loads cause swaying while trailering. The rollers
and/or bunkers of your trailer should be adjusted so that the weight is distributed evenly
across the stern and forward throughout the keel section. Your dealer should be
responsible for adjusting your trailer properly.
Sway and fishtailing are especially dangerous at
higher speeds where they can become
uncontrollable.
