NOTE:
A compressor stall (flame out) may be experienced at
higher density altitudes if the throttle is advanced from
IDLE. Spool-up reliability can be improved by:
Allow the engine to warm up (up to 8 seconds
depending on OAT) before advancing the throttle
Increase the airspeed before advancing the throttle
Avoid throttle setting between 40K and 60K RPM
NOTE:
The time duration from initiating extension to idle power
is approximately 40 seconds.
NOTE:
If a start was unsuccessful or the engine stops running in
RUN mode, a restart can be initiated by cycling the Jet
Control toggle switch from RUN to EXT and back to
RUN.
NOTE:
The start reliability degrades with an increase in
airspeed. Starts above an indicated airspeed of 140km/h
are unlikely.
NOTE:
Successful Starts above an altitude of 3000m (10000ft) is
unlikely.
WARNING:
Although the Jet Engine adds very little additional drag
when extended, the pilot must ensure enough height is
available to land on a suitable field before attempting in-
flight engine start.
