INSPECTING THE LIFTING CHAIN
Clean the chain before inspection.
Check that the chain runs correctly through the
chain block when loaded.
Release the load and check the contact points.
Measure the chain over five links.
The chain must be replaced when the length of five
links exceeds the limiting value in the table below.

REPLACING THE LIFTING CHAIN
1.
Rotate the chain wheel to show one wide and one narrow slot.
2.
Fix the upper chain link over the chain wheel and rotate with the operating chain so that the chain
is placed over the chain wheel.
3.
Continue until 6 to 8 links have passed out on the back of the chain wheel.
4.
Fasten the end of the chain in the chain block.
REPLACING THE CHAIN ANCHOR
1.
Dismantle the cotter and lock bolt.
2.
Pull out the lock bolt.
3.
Insert the new chain.
4.
Refit the lock bolt and cotter.
FITTING THE CHAIN IN THE LIFTING HOOK (1 TONNE)
1.
Dismantle the upper spring washer from the hook and then remove the chain bolt.
2.
Fit the last chain link in the recess. Check that the chain is not twisted.
3.
Fit the chain bolt and lock with the spring washer.
FITTING THE CHAIN IN THE LIFTING HOOK (2 TONNES)
1.
Check that the chain is not twisted. The last link should have the same distortion as the first. If not,
cut off the last link.
2.
Insert the chain on the right-hand side of the chain wheel. Pull the chain through the wheel.
3.
Check that the chain stop is on the left-hand side.
4.
Pull the chain through the wheel and anchor it in the chain block.
5.
Fit the chain bolt and secure with the castle nut and cotter.
ADJUSTING THE BRAKE
1.
Remove the cotter
2.
Tighten the nut fully to position A.
3.
Release the nut to position B and insert the
cotter.
