Checking the hydraulic oil level and adding hydraulic oil
Requirements
– Prepare the truck for maintenance and repairs (see page 330).
– Remove the drive compartment cover, see page 334.
Procedure
• Unscrew the breather (259) and dipstick (260) anticlockwise out of the hydraulic
reservoir (261).
Check hydraulic oil level.
Z
The hydraulic oil level should be between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the
dipstick (260).
WARNING!
Overfilling the hydraulic reservoir can result in accidents and damage the
environment
The hydraulic oil should not be above the "MAX" marking on the dipstick, as any oil
leakage can damage the environment and cause truck malfunctions. The escaping
hydraulic oil could run under the drive wheel, for example, and increase the truck's
stopping distance, as well as affect its handling.
u
Add hydraulic oil only up to the "MAX" marking on the dipstick.
u
Remove any spilled hydraulic oil immediately with an appropriate bonding agent.
u
The mixture of bonding agents and consumables must be disposed of in
accordance with relevant regulations.
