Battery removal and installation
WARNING!
Accident risk during battery removal and installation
Due to the battery weight and acid there is a risk of trapping or scalding when the
battery is removed and installed.
u
Note the "Safety regulations for handling acid batteries" section in this chapter.
u
Wear personal protective equipment (e.g. safety boots, helmet, hi-vis jacket,
protective gloves etc.) when removing and installing the battery.
u
Use only batteries with insulated cells and terminal connectors.
u
When replacing a battery always install the same battery type in the battery
compartment. Compensating weights must not be removed and must remain in
the same position.
u
Park the truck on a level surface to prevent the battery from sliding out.
u
Make sure the crane lifting gear has sufficient capacity to replace the battery.
u
Use only approved battery replacement devices (battery roller stand, replacement
trolley etc.).
u
Make sure the battery is located securely in the truck's battery compartment.
CAUTION!
Battery installation and removal can cause short circuits
The battery cable or connector can get trapped between the truck chassis and
battery when the battery is installed and removed.
u
Place the battery cable and connector on the battery.
u
Do not pinch or trap the battery cable and connector.
