Set the Scan mode selector on the rear
panel to "480i", or set it to "REMOTE" and
make the Progressive scan mode inactive
by using the VFP-PROGRESSIVE SCAN
button (see pages 7 and 8).
A picture is noisy or blurred.
The unit is connected to a VCR directly and
the copyguard function is activated.
Connect the unit so that the picture signal
flows directly to the TV.

No audio is reproduced when playing back
a DVD disc recorded with High-sampling
(88.2 kHz or more) linear PCM audio using
the DIGITAL OUT jack.
The audio signal is not derived from the
unit's DIGITAL OUT. (See page 50.)
Use AUDIO OUT when playing back such
discs.
Audio volume is low when playing back the
unit, compared with the TV or VCR.
The audio level recorded on a DVD VIDEO
is lower, compared with TV broadcasting.
Turn up the volume of the TV or amplifier/
receiver.
Note that you should turn down the volume
before switching back to TV broadcasting,
to prevent outputting the sudden big
sound.
Sound is distorted or noise is generated.
Disc is dirty.
Wipe the disc surface. (See page 5.)
