description
Unless otherwise specified, the descriptions provided in this chapter apply to
Compact Reader MIFARE and Compact Reader LEGIC
The Compact Reader either controls and monitors access control at the access points, or records
coming/leaving bookings as part of time registration.
Depending on the firmware option, the Compact Reader works as a standalone component or in
online operation is linked via an RS-485 interface to an access manager or time registration
terminal.
The robust reading properties of the integrated antenna permit direct mounting on metal surfaces
while maintaining almost constant function and convenient user identification. The integrated
display elements signal both the operating state and access decision visually as well as
acoustically.
Thanks to the new quickwire technology, installation is quick and easy. The device is wired to
the mounting plate plug; the housing with integrated electronics is clicked on with ease and fixed
in position.
Not only a frame contact, but also a door opener key or door handle contact can be connected for
monitoring of the access point. The door opener is activated by the fitted relay.
If CardLink standalone components are used, the Compact Reader supports validation and
devalidation functions.
2.1 Structure
All connections are described in this chapter, regardless of firmware option
The functions, MIFARE/LEGIC module, addressing or mode and the programmer interface
(firmware update) are determined by the various firmware options and are therefore described in
the corresponding chapters; an overview can be found in Chapter 1/Page 7
