Putting into operation using the checklist
IMPORTANT
We recommend resetting the Compact Reader to its basic state (factory reset) before putting it into
operation. Chapter 4.9.2/Page 37 describes the procedure involved.
Simple check of reading behavior without system configuration
Book with a badge. If the badge can be read, this will be signaled as a rejection
4.8.1
Mounting and connection
1. Install the Compact Reader
3. Connect the RS-485 cable
4. Connect the inputs
5. Connect the relay output
IMPORTANT
DIP switch and slide switch settings may only be made when the equipment is disconnected from
the power supply
Changes to settings are only applied after the power supply has been interrupted
Disconnect the Compact Reader from the power supply before carrying out any wiring work
directly on it
4.8.2 Configuring
1. Set the address of the Compact Reader.
Make a note of this address. It will be needed again for the configuration in the host system
2. Set the terminating resistor on the RS-485 bus in accordance with the bus topology
3. Configure inputs IN1 and IN2 correctly as described in Chapter 4.4.5.1/Page 34
4.8.3 Parameterizing
(online)
1. The relevant access point and its Compact Reader must be parameterized in the system as
described in
Electric strike connection
4.8.4
Putting the Compact Reader into operation
Make sure that the system parameter settings for the host system have in fact been transferred to
the relevant access manager and from there to the Compact Reader. To do this, simply set up a
connection between the host and access manager/Compact Reader
Use a customer badge for the functional test in order to ensure that the parameter settings are
correct.
The required tests should be performed in online and offline mode
1. Connect the RS-485 cable to the access manager and Compact Reader as described in
Chapter 2.5.6/Page 19
2. Connect the power supply to the Compact Reader; see Chapter 2.5.2/Page 17
3. Booking at the Compact Reader
4. Check the door process along with all its components
